April 2017 Ministry Updates
It’s been quite a month in Lindsborg. So much has been going on in addition to the normal work flow. As I type this update, Macey and I are enjoying the cool mountain air in Estes Park, Colorado.
We get one vacation per year between our jobs to get away for an entire week. Work for Macey’s nannying job, the bank, and church work have been left in Kansas for a week. It’s also our two-year wedding anniversary! There’s much to celebrate here in the mountains. Lot’s of good stuff. It’s been a second since I’ve typed a good update about the ministry going in Lindsborg. I decided to make one post that involves four highlights. We’ll see how this goes…
At the beginning of April, we planned another Journey Class at the Lindsborg campus. This is what we call our membership class. It used to be about four different classes people can attend to learn our church’s history, theology, polity, vision, mission, and more. Now, it is all condensed into one big class to drink from the fire hose. We had a great time with Pastor Andy Addis from Hutchinson. Six people became members at the event. We now have 20 members at the Lindsborg campus!
Toward the middle of April, the Grow Group I lead with Macey served at the Bethany Home together. I didn’t get any cool pictures with them this time. This was our second time serving there. They enjoy playing games and doing crafts with others in the community. So, we pulled up a chair beside them for fellowship and fun. It’s important to us as a church to not only put on good Bible studies, but also get in the community to serve and join God’s work outside our church walls. Returning to Bethany Home helped us build relationships and see further how God is working in our community.
Rites of Passage
Rites of Passage is an event we celebrate at every CrossPoint campus. This month, we had CP Lindsborg’s first Rites of Passage! We are an intergenerational church. This is one way we show that. We celebrated Karington Bryant as one who has become a woman in our church. What encouraged me the most about our first ROP, was seeing our people at the prayer time. Karington was swarmed by others in our church to receive prayer, encouragement, and affirmation. You can see more photos on our CP Lindsborg Facebook page.
Easter service went very well. We sang, took the Lord’s Supper, studied God’s Word, prayed, and had fellowship as usual. Had 62 in attendance. We preach Christ each week, so the message didn’t feel unusual. I’m excited about the new series we started Easter morning—The Table. We knew that new people would visit this weekend. Starting a new series will hopefully give visitors more incentive to come back next Sunday once Easter is over with. I’m hoping they felt like now is a great time to join our church family.
Whew. That felt like a lot to update you all on! I usually like to give each of these highlights their own post, but due to busyness I hope that this will suffice. Seeing God grow his church is a thrill. Honored to be a part of the work! Stay tuned for more. Be sure to subscribe with your email below. Thank you!
