First Swede Sunday at CrossPoint Lindsborg
Our church was very excited to host Swede Sunday for the first time! Each year, Bethany College shows great support to all the churches of Lindsborg by providing free advertisement on campus. Starting in September, each church gets their own weekend to be highlighted and advertised to students looking for a church. CrossPoint jumped in the rotation to welcome all college students on September 17, 2017.
This event wouldn’t have been possible for our CrossPoint campus without the Robinson Grow Group. They organized the whole thing for us! Their Group gathered to plan, pray, and prep while I got to handle other fruitful works. We had a great turnout. About 60 people attended the worship service. A dozen were college students. It was exciting to see our church grow so much in one weekend.
We look forward to the students returning to CrossPoint Lindsborg and getting plugged in. Since the fall semester began, we’ve seen a good number of students attend regularly. The Robinson Grow Group not only did a great job organizing the Swede Sunday event, they’ve also stayed in touch with the students. Students were invited to their Grow Group Bible study, which takes place every Wednesday, and they had 15 come! We hope to continue building relationships with all students, and making them feel welcomed.
This is another reason why I absolutely love Grow Groups. It’s where the church shows they are the church. When people get passionate about an area of the community, they can gather as a Grow Group to collaborate and get it done. They don’t just attend a weekly Bible Study, they can make a difference in the community. I feel for the churches that have only three or four people getting all the ministry work done. At CrossPoint, we have Grow Groups that gather as the church, to be the church. And the Robinson Group is one of many fruitful CrossPoint Grow Groups being active in God’s work.
We hope you will celebrate this successful Swede Sunday event with us! Would you consider praying for our church plant? If you can’t be there physically, be there in spirit! Join in God’s work with us. Let’s take the same old gospel to new people in new places.
